About the Honda CR-V Hybrid
A truly historic milestone in the legacy of the Honda CR-V, drivers can now experience the outstanding efficiency of the dynamic CR-V Hybrid. For two decades, the CR-V has remained America’s best-selling crossover and the CR-V Hybrid is Honda’s first hybrid SUV in the United States. All CR-V Hybrid models are assembled in Greensburg, Indiana next to the standard CR-V and the Insight hybrid sedan. The launch of the CR-V Hybrid is the latest effort to help Honda accomplish its objective of achieving two-thirds of its global automotive sales from electrified models by 2030. A cutting-edge dual motor hybrid powertrain allows the CR-V Hybrid to achieve remarkable fuel economy figures. Connected tech features inside the cabin along with innovative safety features included as standard help the Honda CR-V emerge as a leader among compact hybrid SUVs.
What the Critics Say
If you know how fond we are of the standard CR-V, it should be no surprise how much we appreciate its hybrid sibling. The CR-V Hybrid shares the genius packaging, excellent balance between a smooth ride and sporty handling, and strong value of its gas-only counterpart while improving on that model’s already impressive efficiency numbers.” — MotorTrend
As such, you won’t be missing out on much by opting for the new CR-V Hybrid. In fact, the more frugal version is actually the more powerful version, and we appreciate its electric motor’s smooth, torque-rich power delivery. And since it relies so heavily on that electric motor, it’s inherently smoother and quieter, especially around town. We think it’s well worth the modest price premium.” — Autoblog
What’s New for 2022
Shoppers won’t find any changes to the successful Honda CR-V Hybrid for the 2022 model year. This hybrid SUV continues to deliver remarkable efficiency combined with bold styling and state-of-the-art tech features to enhance your driving experience.
Honda CR-V Hybrid Features
Offering drivers maximized fuel efficiency, the Honda CR-V Hybrid uses a sophisticated two-motor powertrain to help take your adventures further than ever before. Featuring the same technology as the current Accord Hybrid, this advanced powertrain includes two electric motors along with a 2.0-liter 16-valve DOHC Atkinson cycle engine which delivers over 40 percent thermal efficiency. These unique characteristics give the CR-V Hybrid the ability to provide smooth, seamless power delivery since it doesn’t require a conventional automatic transmission. Since its inception, generous cargo capacity has remained a core strength of all Honda CR-V models. This principle holds true with the CR-V Hybrid thanks to a cleverly-positioned intelligent power unit (IPU) that places the hybrid battery pack underneath the cargo floor. Offering a total of 212 combined system horsepower, the CR-V Hybrid targets an anticipated 50% EPA-estimated city fuel economy increase.
Driving a hybrid SUV no longer means that you have to compromise on luxurious comfort thanks to the launch of the Honda CR-V Hybrid. You’ll notice several exclusive interior accents that separate the CR-V Hybrid from its traditional CR-V sibling. This is most apparent when looking at its signature push-button gear selector which is flanked by switches for Econ, Sport, and EV drive modes. Another unique aspect of the CR-V Hybrid is its digital display within the gauge cluster that gives you clear readouts for both power distribution and energy regeneration levels. Great for relaxing on extended road trips, you can also opt for available leather-trimmed seating surfaces. To access all of your favorite apps and media at the touch of a button, the Honda CR-V Hybrid can be equipped with the optional Display Audio interface with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration.
Since even the best drivers can use a helping hand from time to time, every Honda CR-V Hybrid comes standard with the Honda Sensing® suite of driver-assistive safety technologies. Features included in this groundbreaking collection are Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and pedestrian sensing capability. Another feature that’s unique to the CR-V Hybrid is the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS). Designed to increase pedestrian awareness, this groundbreaking system uses a speaker mounted in the front bumper to generate an audible alert which varies in volume depending on the speed of the vehicle.
